Milk chocolate or Dark chocolate for a chocolate fountain?
Did you know that most chocolate fountains use dark chocolate (70% or more cocoa content)? You might find milk chocolate a little sweeter when you are snacking at home, but when you are faced with an overflowing volcano of sweet chocolately goodness, you will definitely want the stronger-tasting dark chocolate, rather than the super-sweet milk chocolate. If you really can’t decide, I’m sure your guests won’t mind at all if you choose both. Or even three – one dark, one milk, and one white chocolate; just for the heck of it. Willy Wonka would love that one.
Red wine and chocolate are good for the mind
Red wine and chocolate are good for the mind and even better when consumed together, scientists claim. It is thought that polyphenols – plant chemicals abundant in dark chocolate and wines – widen blood vessels, speeding the supply of blood to the brain. This provides it with a rush of oxygen and sugars, making complex calculations easier and quicker.

How does a chocolate fountain work?
Have you ever wondered how a chocolate fountain works? Just how does that delicious melted chocolate continuously pour over the tiers of the fountain?
Professional chocolate fountains are made from health-grade-stainless steel and consist of a curved tray, hollow tube and multiple curved tiers. The fountains are assembled by your provider prior to the event, and filled with chocolate to ensure that the flow is smooth and free from imperfections.
Premium quality chocolate is melted to just the right consistency and poured into the tray. The electricity-driven mechanics suck the warm chocolate up the tube, releasing it at the top to flow over the tiers and back down to the tray. The provider will adjust the temperature of the fountain to keep the chocolate at a safe temperature. The result is a divine visual and sensory experience that will wow your guests.
It is important to use commercial-quality chocolate. Only extremely high quality chocolate will work effectively in the fountains, as compound chocolate will not reach the required consistency to flow through the fountain. This premium chocolate is also more palatable (less sickly sweet), and a sophisticated dessert, especially when paired with beautiful fresh fruit and dipping food.
When guests are finished with the fountain, the chocolate is kept running until the event is finished. At this stage, the fountain is turned off and the provider will disassemble the fountain for cleaning.

Dipping Food Ideas
Looking for ideas for food to dip into the chocolate fountain hired for your event? Think texture, temperature and flavour. And of course small bites of food that will sit securely on a skewer (and not drop off into the fountain!).
1. Texture – use crunchy or chewy food as a contrast to the smooth, silky melted chocolate. A mini mouth explosion! Try:

3. Flavour – your guests are going to love the chocolate fondue all by itself, but if you really want to tingle their tastebuds, try a contrasting flavour that packs a punch. Try:
